Talk to the Hand
Roughly 25 years ago, one of Bagholder's in-laws (who shall remain nameless) called me with exciting news. She had just won a brand new Mercedes. WooHoo!! The only stipulation was she had to pay taxes up front, in order to take possession - and since she didn't have 2 nickels to rub together, she was hoping I would float her the 3 grand to cover the taxes. Bagholder's alarm bells immediately went off. It took little digging to realize the whole thing was a scam.
What was interesting, wasn't the scam itself - but how taken in by it, my in-law was. She was absolutely convinced there was a new Mercedes on the way. The only thing standing between her and the car, was me and the fact I would not give her the 3 grand. I told her to exercise some common sense, nobody is giving away free cars to strangers on the internet. I tried to show her with reason and logic how this was a scam, she would have none of it. I hit her with examples of similar scams from years past, she wouldn't hear it. To her, I was a horse's ass for not helping her realize her dreams. To me, she was delusional.
In the delusional mind, things like common sense, reason, logic, and facts have no place. The deluded prefer to feel, rather than think. Their decisions are emotional in nature. Its why many kids, in the eyes of their parents, can do no wrong. Parents are blinded by (the emotion of) love. Same with my in-law, except she was blinded by hope. Attempts to change the mind of the delusional with logic and reason, are swiftly met with emotional responses, like hysteria, contempt or anger. Bagholder got all 3 from the in-law.
When people make decisions on feel, they are especially vulnerable to propaganda. Nobody understands this better than the powers that be. They are world class experts at leveraging emotion. Look what they have done with regards to the "vaccine". They have convinced 1/2 this country to allow themselves to be injected with an experimental drug, highly likely to fail, with no idea of the long term consequences, to combat a virus with a 99.76% survival rate. This could only be accomplished by leveraging the emotion of fear.
Consider the predicament of the vaccinated. They were told, take the jab and you will be safe. They took the jab without a thought, without looking at the science, and without consideration of side effects. Their decision was not a logical one, but an emotional one. It wasn't until after most of them got the jab, when they found out they were not immune, oops. How have the vaccinated responded to the failure of the vaccine? Emotionally of course, without any logical reasoning, by demanding everyone be forced to take it. Misery does love company.
It makes perfect sense for the vaccinated to be angry. They were told the vaccine would get them back their normal life. When you consider the vaccine does not stop infection or transmission, it would be accurate to say, the vaccine has been an abject failure. Logic would dictate they blame the purveyors of the vaccine. Instead they are blaming, if you can believe it, the un-vaccinated. This makes as much sense as a guy going to a restaurant, ordering fish, getting food poisoning...and then blaming the guy who ordered steak. It is, for lack of a better word, delusional.
Delusion is a funny thing. Victims are powerless to control their own lives, primarily because they are not in touch with reality. The lack of control in their own lives, leaves them with a non-stop desire to control others. Bludgeoning them over the head with facts and logic designed to free them from their self imposed delusional cage might seem logical, but the fact is you are feeding their delusion. You are providing them with exactly what their lives are lacking...control and power. They know you want something. The chance to wield a bit of power by arbitrarily rejecting your arguments is an idea too strong for them to resist. To further cement their delusion, the rejection will usually be couched in moral indignation. This explains why the vaccinated view the un-vaccinated as lesser than, second class citizens.
If you want to free the deluded from their plight, the best thing you can do is lead by example. Do not feed their delusion by combating an emotional decision with facts and logic, this only empowers them. Do not tell them your way is better, show them your way is better. Play the long game. Eventually, the ones worth saving will come around.
As for the rest, do not waste your time. While they may seem content with little or no control in their own lives, all the while feeling holier than thou; know that they are miserable on the inside. The key to living a rich, fulfilled life requires being free of delusions. Living in reality, although difficult at times, is the only true path forward.
