Not really suggesting its deliberate ... there is definitely a cognitive dissonance there. They get hit with facts counter to their beliefs, and rather than question those beliefs - they double down with nonsense like "there may be life in the upper atmosphere of Venus".... Or like how they focus on the facts CO2 levels are rising here on Earth, but ignore the discordant fact CO2 levels are at all time lows. Even if it is not deliberate, it is convenient to say the least.
