The other problem with Apple is that Tim Cook isn’t a visionary like Jobs was. Steve Jobs would have never let some of the stuff they’ve released lately go out. I still have a desktop computer loaded with MacOS 10.6.
Agreed! Jobs was a once-a-generation visionary. Cook is a Bean counter, nothing more - you can see it in the accounting gimmicks I talked about. The sum total of upgrades on the new phone is a fifth button on the side of the phone. I'm guessing Cook and his accounting background probably believe that going from 4 buttons to 5, will make users 25% more productive ;-) ...... I've been an Apple user my whole life, but it is to the point where I find it hard to justify new purchases.
I got to work with the software that went out on Apple Lisa. That’s how far I go back! I agree. Hard to justify new purchases. That why I kept the Mac with MacOS 10.6. Last really stable environment.
Great post and makes me question my long term holding… I’m mainly interested in services and their unfair cut they make on purchases. Anyway, this calls for a podcast in the near future. I got sick (again) so trying to get better and promised my friend to come on as a guest but you’re next in Que.
Sounds wonderful, please let me know ahead of time what you would like to discuss so I can do my homework… Been under the weather lately myself, strange, I never get sick.
Excellent article. My favorite line, which must be in the top of the list in business strategy 101: Kudos to AAPL for leveraging that particular psychological frailty.
